Waiting times for contraceptive services are not monitored centrally. Local authorities are best placed to understand and meet the public health needs of their local communities. The Government has mandated local authorities in England to commission comprehensive open access sexual health services, including provision of free contraception. Contraception is also widely available free of charge through general practice.
