answer text
The electric stock referred to in my previous answer will be subject to light refurbishment before transfer to the Northern Rail franchise. This will be specified and managed by Northern and the rolling stock company involved. As the Noble Lord may be aware, the Northern Direct Award is for 22 months – from February 2016 a new franchise competition winner will be running services on this franchise. Therefore the new franchisee will develop their own proposals regarding any further refurbishment or replacement of the electric powered rolling stock.
more like this

answer text
As well as the Plug-in Car Grant, the Government is providing funding for grants for electric vehicle chargepoints, including at people's homes and locations such as train station car parks and on the public sector estate. We have also established a favourable taxation system for company car tax and vehicle excise duty to help nudge more motorists towards these vehicles. There are also numerous local incentives such as congestion charge exemption in London and free parking.
more like this

answer text
The Great Western franchise agreement announced on 3 October 2013 is a new direct award agreement, not an extension to the old First Great Western franchise agreement. No additional capacity on branch lines in Devon and Cornwall was negotiated as part of that franchise agreement. The franchise agreement contains a priced option for the operation of additional locally-funded train services on the Newton Abbot to Paignton line in Devon. Additional locally-funded train services were introduced on this route on 9 December 2013.

25 March 2014
more like this
