answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/09/2017 answer text <p>The Government has invested £6.1m in the £11.7m project to improve the quays at St Mary’s and dredge Penzance Harbour to improve the sea connections between the Isles of Scilly and the mainland for passengers and freight. The project also benefited from £5.6m of European Regional Development Funding. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2017 answer text <p>I refer to my previous answer to the honourable member dated 11 September that the Department has had Board level discussions with Transport Scotland about improving the remainder of the A1 from Newcastle to Scotland, and will continue to look at the case for completing the dualling of the route, taking into account Scotland’s revised Transport Strategy upon its publication. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/09/2017 answer text <p>Agreement in principle was reached with the Welsh Government last year that they would be given a combination of statutory executive franchising functions within Wales, and agency powers of the Secretary of State in relation to the English component of the franchise, in order that that they could procure and manage a new franchise of similar geographic scope, while ensuring the Secretary of State’s accountability for rail operations within England.</p><p>In order to facilitate the timely progression of the Welsh Government’s procurement, the Secretary of State entered into the first of a planned series of agency agreements with Welsh Ministers in October last year. Each agreement will set out relevant conditions to protect the Secretary of State’s interests in the English component of the franchise (including the English component of cross-border services).
