question text	To ask Her Majesty's Government what precautions are in place to check whether passengers on (1) private, (2)  charter, and (3) scheduled, incoming flights may carry COVID-19; and what are the criteria for requiring the passengers of any such flights be quarantined in the UK.

answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/05/2020 answer text <p>Targeted screening measures were carried out at UK airports for inbound passengers during the containment phase of the pandemic when the aim was to prevent the virus coming in to the UK. Whilst there is community transmission within the UK, the role played by imported cases is less significant and so our focus in the current delay phase has not been on screening measures at the border. However, as you would expect our approach is being kept under review as the pandemic develops. This may mean that measures and procedures change as we control the spread of, and understand more about, the virus. Any changes to our approach will be led by advice from SAGE and the Chief Medical Officer. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/05/2020 answer text <p>The aviation sector is important to the UK economy and the Government recognises the challenging times facing the sector as a result of COVID-19.</p><p>The aviation sector, including those operating domestic air services, will be able to draw upon the unprecedented package of measures announced by the Chancellor, including a Bank of England scheme for firms to raise capital, Time to Pay flexibilities with tax bills, financial support for employees and VAT deferrals.</p><p> </p><p>We are continuing to work closely with the sector and are willing to consider the situation of individual providers, so long as all other Government schemes have been explored and all commercial options exhausted, including raising capital from existing investors.</p><p> </p><p>These measures have been designed to ensure that companies of any size receive the help they need to get through this difficult time.</p> answering member printed Baroness Vere of Norbiton question first answered 05/05/2020 16:04:46 answering member 4580 label Biography information for Baroness Vere of Norbiton
