The transport industry, local authorities, the police and others are already investing in, and undertaking, wide-ranging initiatives to improve the personal security of public transport passengers and staff and to keep our public transport systems as low crime environments.</p><p> </p><p>However, the Government is not readily able to increase passenger services in commercial transport markets. For example, decisions about bus services outside London are largely a matter for the private sector. The Government considers that currently there is no justification on safety or other grounds for moving safety regulation and therefore has no plans to do so at the moment. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/07/2014 answer text <p>The Crossrail Project (which is managed by Crossrail Limited) will save approximately £10m as a result of the extension to Reading as some items of scope which were planned to be delivered at Slough and Maidenhead are no longer required.</p><p> </p><p>The service requires one additional train to be added to the Crossrail fleet. This will form part of the recently announced rolling stock and depot contract with Bombardier where there was an option to procure additional trains. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2014 answer text <p>The Highways Act 1980 places the responsibility for the management of the road network with local highway authorities. The New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 places a specific duty on the authorities to co-ordinate works on their networks, and on utility companies to co-operate with them in doing that. The Traffic Management Act 2004 imposed a ‘Network Management Duty' on authorities and enabled them to introduce Permit Schemes which give them powers to more proactively manage and co-ordinate works to minimise disruption for all road users. They also offer discounts on permit fees when utilities work together to minimise impact on road users. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/07/2014 answer text <p>It is for individual local authorities to decide how to establish the licensing status of vehicles parked in areas restricted to disabled drivers following the abolition of the vehicle tax disc.</p><p> </p><p>The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has liaised with local authorities about the abolition of the tax disc and provided a broad range of information to help inform their customers.
