answer text <p>In 2017 the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) published its response to the Improving Motorcycle Training consultation, and committed to exploring:</p><ul><li><p>updating the qualification process for motorcycle instructors</p></li><li><p>updating the content and structure of the compulsory basic training (CBT) syllabus</p></li><li><p>strengthening the quality assurance scheme for motorcycle instructors</p></li></ul><p>Officials met with key representatives of the motorcycle organisations on 4 December 2023 to discuss motorcycle safety. answer text <p>One of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency’s priorities, as outlined in its strategic plan, is to improve motorcyclist and instructor training, which includes compulsory basic training (CBT).</p><p> </p><p>The newly formed motorcycle strategic focus group is working closely with industry stakeholders to consider how to improve the safety of those involved in the rider gig economy, coupled with changes to motorcycle training and testing to ensure riders have the skills and knowledge they need for a lifetime of safe and sustainable journeys.</p><p> </p><p>Any changes to the training and licencing regime, including CBT, will form part of a wider package of reforms when parliamentary time allows.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this

answer text <p>Compulsory basic training (CBT) for learner moped and motorcycle riders is suspended during the current lockdowns in England, Scotland and Wales. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will follow the relevant administrations’ instructions and advice about when easing of the current COVID-19 restrictions will allow CBT to restart safely.
