<p>Local Authorities have a statutory duty to allocate funding to youth services in
line with local need, this includes provision during the summer holidays. This is
funded from the Local Government settlement, which was over £12 billion last year.</p><p>DCMS
has been working closely with the Department for Education on the Holiday Activity
and Food (HAF) programme, which will provide disadvantaged children and families with
access to healthy food and enriching activities during the longer school holidays.
The Department for Education is making over £600 million available to Local Authorities
in England over the next 3 years to deliver this programme with the funding being
distributed through all 152 local authorities in England.</p><p>In addition, the DCMS
funded National Citizen Service (NCS) is running a range of activities during the
2022 summer holidays, providing access to adventures away from home, skills development,
engaging in local community projects and volunteering opportunities for thousands
of young people across the country.</p>
