Charities have benefited from a multi billion pound package of support, including cross economy measures and targeted funding to help charities maintain essential services. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/10/2021 answer text <p>We recognise the importance of ensuring public access to indoor and outdoor pools and that swimming is a great way for people of all ages to stay fit and healthy.</p><p>Government has provided a range of support for swimming pools during the pandemic. The £100 million National Leisure Recovery Fund supported the reopening of local authority swimming pools throughout the country. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/10/2021 answer text <p><ins class="ministerial">For the Public Lending Right (PLR) Scheme year 2019/20, PLR payments were made to 20,911 registered authors in the United Kingdom. The British Library, which administers the PLR Scheme on behalf of the department, does not maintain a record of payments to authors by country of residence in the United Kingdom.</ins></p><p><del class="ministerial">The Public Lending Right Act 1979 provides a right for authors, known as the “public lending right”, to receive payments from a central fund for the loan of their books to the public by local library authorities. The central fund is provided from government grant-in-aid, and the PLR Scheme is administered for DCMS by the British Library.</del></p><p><del class="ministerial">The PLR Scheme sets out how to calculate the payments that authors can expect to receive from the central fund and this is calculated, and recommended to the government, by the British Library using the number of ‘notional loans’ of their books from public libraries in the UK. We have engaged closely with the sectors affected and listened to their concerns throughout the pandemic. We continue to engage with Her Majesty's Treasury to ensure that support for the events sector remains a focus.</p><p>This government has provided significant financial support throughout the pandemic including extending the £1.57 billion package of support for the Culture Recovery Fund with £300 million of additional funding for 21/22, the biggest arts funding package in history. To date, over £1.2 billion has been allocated from the £2 billion Fund, reaching over 5,000 individual organisations and sites.</p><p>We would encourage businesses in the events sector to review the initiatives in the government’s support package. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/10/2021 answer text <p>The Government has provided over £35 billion in support to the tourism, leisure and hospitality sectors over the course of the pandemic and is committed to supporting the safe return of tourism to the UK, as set out in the Government's Tourism Recovery Plan published in June.</p><p> </p><p>Businesses across the economy, including the travel industry, can draw on over £350 billion worth of loans, rates relief, VAT deferrals and the furlough scheme, the latter of which ended on 30 September. The Government Historic Estates Unit (GHEU) is a small, dedicated team within Historic England, which helps government departments and other public bodies, such as the Royal Household, to look after the historic buildings and structures in their care.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In financial year 2021/22 Historic England received £69.2 million baseline Grant in Aid from DCMS. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/09/2021 answer text <p>This government recognises the importance of the UK’s creative and cultural industries, not only to the economy and international reputation of the United Kingdom, but also to the wellbeing and enrichment of its people. We want musicians and performers to be able to tour abroad easily.</p><p>We recognise that challenges remain around touring, and we are continuing to work closely with the industry. In order to support this we have published guidance on GOV.UK, including updated <a href="https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice" target="_blank">travel advice</a> for travelling to the EU, and <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/travelling-to-the-eu-switzerland-norway-iceland-or-liechtenstein-for-work" target="_blank">business traveller summaries</a> for individual Member States, and developed sector specific ‘<a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/touring-europe-checklists-for-the-arts-cultural-creative-and-heritage-sectors" target="_blank">landing pages</a>’ for GOV.UK, aimed at the creative sectors, which will allow cultural and creative professionals to easily locate and access guidance that is relevant to them.</p><p>Member States are principally responsible for deciding the rules governing what work UK visitors can undertake in each Member State. This is why we have spoken to every EU Member State about the importance of touring. From these discussions, 19 out of 27 Member States have confirmed that UK musicians and performers do not need visas or work permits for some short-term tours.</p><p>We are now actively engaging with Member States, and in particular those that do not allow any visa or permit free touring, to encourage them to more closely align requirements with the UK’s generous rules, which allow creative professionals to tour easily here. DCMS ministers are speaking with their counterparts as part of these discussions, and we are working with the sector to amplify each other’s lobbying efforts.</p><p>We are looking at options to support individuals and businesses to resume touring with ease.
