The Self-Employed Income Support Scheme has helped millions of people across the UK, with those eligible receiving a cash grant worth 80% of their average monthly trading profit over the last three years. This has covered 95% of people who receive the majority of their income from self-employment.</p><p>In addition to this scheme designed to support the self-employed, the Government announced an unprecedented £1.57bn support package for organisations in the Arts and Culture sectors. This funding will help preserve and resume cultural activity, initially with socially distanced audiences and subsequently kick start employment opportunities for freelancers.</p><p>To complement the funding for organisations made available by Government, Arts Council England have announced £95m of additional support for individuals, including freelancers. This involves:</p><ul><li><p>An additional £75m in project grants. These will be focused on applications that maximise employment opportunities and those from under-represented groups. Freelancers are eligible to apply directly. National Portfolio Organisations can also apply to create new work with bids that create employment opportunities prioritised.</p></li><li><p>A further round of the ACE programme ‘Discover Your Creative Practice’ will open in the autumn. This will make approximately £18m available for individuals looking to develop new creative skills that will help them to further develop their career.</p></li><li><p>ACE will also be adding £2m into relevant benevolent funds to support those less well supported by the programmes outlined above, including stage managers and technicians.</p></li></ul><p>The government remains committed to supporting our prestigious and internationally renowned arts and cultural sector and is clear on the vital importance the Arts contribute to the well being of the nation at this time. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/09/2020 answer text <p>The government is deeply disappointed with the BBC’s decision to restrict the over 75 licence fee concession to only those in receipt of pension credit. We recognise the value of free TV licences for over-75s and believe they should be funded by the BBC.</p><p>However, the Digital Economy Act 2017 provides that the future of the concession is the responsibility of the BBC, not of the government. The BBC must look urgently at how it can use its substantial licence fee income to support older people and deliver for UK audiences of all ages.</p><p>The BBC has estimated that around 3.7 million households will now be expected to pay for their TV licence as a result of its decision. Since the start of the crisis, the department has engaged extensively with stakeholders across the Creative Industries and we are aware of the difficulties organisations and individuals face.</p><p>We appreciate that the Covid-19 pandemic presents a significant challenge to the creative industries which is why the Government announced an unprecedented £1.57 billion support package specifically for the cultural sector to help them through this crisis. This funding will provide targeted support to many organisations in the Creative Industries, to stay open and continue operating. The Government’s public statement on the Schrems II judgement is available on <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-government-response-to-the-european-court-of-justice-decision-in-the-schrems-ii-case" target="_blank">Gov.UK</a>.</p><p>During the Transition Period, EU data protection law and the guidance of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) apply to the UK directly. The EDPB published initial guidance on international data transfers following the Schrems II judgment on 24 July (available <a href="https://edpb.europa.eu/our-work-tools/our-documents/ovrigt/frequently-asked-questions-judgment-court-justice-european-union_en" target="_blank">here</a>). We expect the EDPB to provide further guidance in due course.</p><p>The ICO has published updated material on its website including a statement and updates to their Privacy Shield FAQ (available <a href="https://ico.org.uk/about-the-ico/news-and-events/news-and-blogs/2020/07/updated-ico-statement-on-the-judgment-of-the-european-court-of-justice-in-the-schrems-ii-case/" target="_blank">here</a> and <a href="https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/eu-us-privacy-shield/" target="_blank">here</a>). answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/09/2020 answer text <p>Broadcasting regulation is a matter for Ofcom, as the UK’s independent regulator of television and radio. Ofcom sets and enforces stringent standards for licensed broadcasters to meet in its Broadcasting Code. Broadcasters must provide adequate protection to UK audiences from harmful content, including any potential harm that might arise from misleading or inaccurate health advice.</p><p>In July 2020, Ofcom advised broadcasters to be alert to the potential for significant harm to audiences related to the coronavirus, including the accuracy or material misleadingness in programmes in relation to the coronavirus or public policy regarding it.</p><p>With regard to broadcast advertising, the Advertising Standards Authority enforces the UK Code of Broadcast Advertising (BCAP Code), through a system of co-regulation with Ofcom. The ministerial team have attended pilot events and will attend others where possible, and are close to the pilot programme.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government is keen to see the safe return of spectators to live sports events.
