answer text <p>The government is committed to a free and independent press. This is vital to a strong and fully functioning democracy where the powerful can be held to account without fear. For this reason, the government does not intervene in what the press can and cannot publish, including on their websites.</p><p> </p><p>The Online Harms White Paper does not seek to prohibit press freedom. The regulator will not be responsible for policing truth and accuracy online. Where services are already well regulated, regulation will not be duplicated.</p><p><strong><br></strong>Officials are currently working with stakeholders to ensure online harms proposals protect journalistic content. Further details will be published in the full Government Response to the Online Harms White Paper.</p> more like this

answer text <p>We are aware that the COVID-19 outbreak is significantly impacting the tourism industry and connected communities, including those in coastal regions.</p><p>My Department regularly engages with stakeholders in the tourism and events sector and across Government on this developing issue. We will continue to monitor its impact on the sector and would urge businesses from all parts of the country to share information with VisitBritain via their Tourism Industry Emergency Response group.</p><p>The Chancellor has announced unprecedented support for business and workers to protect them against the current economic emergency. I have had several conversations with civil society organisations about responding to covid-19 and its potential impact on charities and social enterprises. Last week the Minister for Civil Society, Baroness Barran, held a roundtable with over 45 charities to listen to their concerns. answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting a modern public service broadcasting system that will meet the needs of UK audiences in the future and remain at the heart of our world class broadcasting sector.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Ofcom’s PSB Review will play an important role in strengthening our understanding of how public service broadcasting, and the regulatory framework which supports it, can adapt to ensure its continued resilience in the changing technological environment. The Government has asked Ofcom to be bold and ambitious in its thinking.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Our public service broadcasting system, and the media more widely, is particularly vital during these challenging times. answer text <p>The BBC is an independent body governed by the Royal Charter.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Royal Charter requires the BBC to prepare, publish and lay before Parliament an annual report for each financial year to set out the details of its activities and compliance with its duties. Further, the Royal Charter sets out that the BBC must also comply with requests to appear before or submit evidence to either of the Houses of Parliament or one of their committees.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The BBC also allows licence fee payers to hold it to account on a range of issues by contacting the BBC directly.</p> more like this

As the national broadcaster it plays a vital role in the UK, particularly in these challenging times.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The government is committed to ensuring that the BBC and all public service broadcasters adapt to a fast changing market, ensuring they remain at the heart of our world class TV sector. answer text <p>The BBC is operationally and editorially independent from the government, and is responsible for its environmental policies.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>In its environmental sustainability strategy, ‘Greener Broadcasting’, published in 2018, the BBC set a target of a 24% reduction in CO2 emissions from buildings and technology by 2022.
