answer text <p>VisitBritain research shows that in 2016, over one million of the UK’s inbound visitors come here with attending a festival in mind, spending nearly £1.2bn during their visit.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Arts Council has carried out research into the benefits of local events on the community and economy. For example, the SO Festival in East Lindsey is estimated to have increased footfall from 30,000 to 83,000. The Grinagog Festival in Torquay submitted a report for their 2018 festival estimating that there was £150,000 direct economic impact based on 2,400 paying customers.</p> more like this

answer text <p>Business visits and events are extremely important aspects of the visitor economy. In 2016, the UK welcomed 9.12million inbound visitors for business visits who spent £5.46bn while here. 3.62m of these visits were to London with £3.25bn being spent in the capital.</p><p> </p><p>A report by VisitBritain shows that delegates attending an event in the UK who extended their trip for leisure purposes would spend double the amount of money they would spend than if they went home directly after the event (£1,942 compared to £991).</p> more like this

answer text <p>Tourism is a vitally important aspect of the UK’s economy, worth over £66 billion to the UK’s GVA in 2016, which is over 14% of the UK’s total GVA. Tourism also supports over 1.5m jobs across the country.</p><p> </p><p>In the Yorkshire and Humber area, VisitEngland’s Tourism survey of domestic overnight visitors shows that 10.7m visits were made over the same period, accounting for spend of £1.75 billion.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Government’s Arms Length Body, VisitEngland supports the work of the Family Holiday Association, a national charity dedicated to helping provide breaks and day trips at the British seaside for families who struggle to financially provide holidays for their family. They are also a member of England’s Inclusive Tourism Group which VisitEngland originally convened in 2015, which aim to provide access for all to tourism destinations and businesses.</p><p> </p><p>VisitScotland have their own accessibility team which develop and support products to increase accessibility for visitors, however they do work in partnership with VisitEngland.</p><p> </p> more like this
