This spearheaded a major effort to tackle loneliness, with over £23 million allocated to this activity. Activity includes a £5 million grant fund to support national organisations working to tackle loneliness and build social connections to help them continue and adapt their critical work. This has given grants of between £500,000 and £810,000 to 9 organisations. In addition, a further £44 million of the £750 million package was given to organisations supporting people with their mental health.</p><p> </p><p>Government has also announced a £4 million microgrants fund, in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, to provide targeted funding to small grassroots organisations, to build relationships in communities to help reduce loneliness. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/11/2020 answer text <p>Government is addressing the impact of loneliness this winter by providing millions of pounds in funding, inspiring organisations to take action and encouraging people to reach out through our campaign ‘Let’s Talk Loneliness’.</p><p>As part of the £750 million charity funding package announced in the spring, £18 million has been provided to charities at the forefront of tackling loneliness. This funding is directly benefiting people at increased risk of loneliness, including young carers, veterans, new parents, people living with disabilities and many more.</p><p>We have set up a new Tackling Loneliness Network that brings together over 65 private, public and voluntary organisations. The first annual report was published in January 2020. The 60 commitments made in the loneliness strategy vary widely and so learning is captured in different ways. Many of these commitments are still in progress and findings will emerge over time. For example, an independent evaluation of the £11.5m Building Connections Fund is underway, and findings will be published from mid-2020 onwards.</p><p>The first annual report on government’s work on tackling loneliness was published on 20th January 2020. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>To help ensure effective implementation of the loneliness strategy, ‘A connected society - A strategy for tackling loneliness’ and to progress wider work on loneliness, Government Officials from the tackling loneliness team regularly engage with the Loneliness Action Group, convened by the British Red Cross and Co-op.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Officials have presented on implementation of the strategy at the two meetings of the Loneliness Action Group which have taken place since the strategy’s publication, in November 2018 and February 2019. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>The government’s loneliness strategy, ‘A connected society - A strategy for tackling loneliness’, recognises that, while increasingly we understand the impact of loneliness, there is less certainty about its drivers and what works to tackle it. As a result, the strategy did not set a quantitative target for change. Rather it sets out the government's commitment to establishing a clearer picture of the prevalence of loneliness, through a new national measure and by developing the evidence base on what works. It commits government to publishing annual progress reports that provide an update on the implementation of the policies set out in the strategy, as well as the development of additional policies. As government reviews its approach, and further learning is generated, government will explore the possibility – and suitability – of setting a quantitative target for change. This is not likely to be possible for some years, as it will take time for sufficient data and learning to be available. Government is exploring various mechanisms for doing this and an update on progress will be provided in the first annual report on tackling loneliness, expected to be published later this year.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The guidance for the Family Test is currently being refreshed and consideration of loneliness is included in the draft text.
