answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/11/2022 answer text <p>The UK’s start up and scale up tech ecosystem was recently valued at over £1 trillion. The UK is only the third country in the world to have a tech sector reach this valuation. We are committed to ensuring the benefits and growth of the tech sector are felt in all corners of the country. Last year we published <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/assessing-the-uks-regional-digital-ecosystems" target="_blank">DCMS’ Regional Tech Ecosystems report,</a> which aims to better understand the drivers of growth at a local level.</p><p>Our <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/dcms-sectors-economic-estimates-2019-regional-gva" target="_blank">Department’s Regional GVA official statistics</a> show that the tech sector contributed over £7.5 billion to the West Midlands’ economy in 2019 in real terms (approx. 5.3% of the region’s GVA). The tech sector has consistently provided the largest contribution out of all of DCMS’ sectors to the West Midlands economy. The region's tech ecosystem was recently valued at an impressive £15.3 billion - up from £11.5 billion in 2021. Between April 2021 - March 2022, there were 111,000 filled jobs in the West Midlands’ tech sector, representing almost 4% of all filled jobs in the region.</p><p>We are making investments in our Digital Infrastructure to drive growth and innovation at a local level. Last month my Department announced that the world-class, UK Telecommunications Laboratory, will be opening in the metropolitan borough of Solihull. The laboratory will provide a safe environment for security experts to test new and existing software and equipment, using groundbreaking technology. This will keep our public telecommunications networks secure, and support incumbent and new supplier entrants to the market. I have also met representatives from the football authorities to discuss reform.</p><p>The Government recognises the need for football to be reformed to ensure the game’s sustainability in the long term. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/11/2022 answer text <p>The Government is committed to supporting the domestic tourism market, including the city of London, by working towards the objectives set out in the Tourism Recovery Plan (TRP).</p><p>London was a featured city in VisitBritain’s international marketing campaign Welcome to Another Side of Britain. The GREAT-funded campaign ran in the USA and Europe and was designed to encourage the return of international visitors.</p><p>VisitEngland also ran the Escape the Everyday DMO Recovery Marketing Fund. Visit Greenwich was one of the successful DMOs.</p><p>In September, VisitBritain hosted Destination Britain North America, a 3-day trade fair in Washington DC, connecting British suppliers with tourism product buyers and media from the US and Canada. 15 London-based suppliers attended. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/11/2022 answer text <p>According to the independent website <a href="http://www.thinkbroadband.com" target="_blank">www.thinkbroadband.com</a> gigabit broadband coverage in Morley and Outwood is 84.8%, which is above the national average of 71.5%. Over 98.7% of premises in Morley and Outwood have access to Superfast broadband with speeds of at least 30 Mbps, which is also above the national average of 97.3%.</p><p>We are investing £5 billion through Project Gigabit so homes and businesses in hard-to-reach areas that would not otherwise be reached through suppliers’ commercial plans can access gigabit broadband. Morley and Outwood is included in Project Gigabit’s regional procurement for West Yorkshire and parts of North Yorkshire.</p><p>We are making good progress with this procurement, which will launch early next year. We have recently conducted market engagement to assess interest in the area from various suppliers, and identify where government subsidy is required.</p><p>Eligible homes and businesses may also be able to benefit from the Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, which provides a subsidy of up to £1,500 for residents and up to £3,500 for businesses towards the cost of installing gigabit-capable broadband. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/11/2022 answer text <p>The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) recognises the importance of providing timely responses to written parliamentary questions (WPQs) and correspondence. Every effort is made to provide prompt responses to enquiries, and we continually seek opportunities for improvement in these areas; doing so in regular collaboration with other departments across Whitehall to share best practice.</p><p>DCMS has access to regular training led by the Parliamentary Capability Team through the Government Campus. DCMS also runs regular training sessions within the department on WPQs and correspondence to further improve the quality and timeliness of our responses.</p><p>Between July 2021 and July 2022, DCMS answered 88% of House of Commons WPQs on time, meaning on the named day or within five working days for ordinary WPQs. In the same period, DCMS answered 67% of ministerial correspondence cases within 20 working days.
