answer text <p>The Independent Expert Panel assessing bids for the UK’s Tentative List will use criteria based on <a href="https://whc.unesco.org/en/criteria/" target="_blank">UNESCO’s criteria</a> for selection to the World Heritage List.</p><p>These require sites to be of outstanding universal value and meet at least one of ten criteria, which identify a wide range of values a location can demonstrate.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Sites selected for the UK’s Tentative List will receive support from relevant Heritage Bodies to develop their bid and to pass a Technical Evaluation stage before submitting their nomination for the World Heritage List.</p><p>As part of the assessment process to be included in the UK’s Tentative List, sites must demonstrate they have sufficient support from stakeholders and sufficient funding for the future management of the site.</p><p><strong></strong><br><br></p> more like this

answer text <p>My officials, supported by advisers from Historic England and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee, have been running open information sessions and workshops for applicants to provide advice and support, ahead of the 15th July deadline.</p><p>There has been interest from a fascinating range of prospective sites from across the UK and Overseas Territories and I look forward to their applications.</p><p>We encourage heritage related projects to apply to grant schemes available through the Government’s Arm’s Length Bodies and partners where eligible, such as Historic England or through the National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Heritage Memorial Fund.</p> more like this
