<p>As part of the 2016-2021 National Cyber Security Strategy the Government created
the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to be the authority on the UK’s cyber security
environment, sharing knowledge, addressing systemic vulnerabilities and providing
leadership on key national cyber security issues.</p><p> </p><p>In October 2017, the
NCSC published a Small Business Guide which is freely available on its website. Following
this guidance will significantly increase the protection of small businesses against
the most common forms of cybercrime. The guide cannot guarantee protection from all
types of cyber attack, but it sets out easy, low-cost steps that can be to protect
an organisation’s data, assets and reputation. The NCSC also manages the Cyber Essentials
scheme, another tool which businesses can take to protect themselves against a whole
range of the most common cyber attacks.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>In addition, the Government
recently introduced the Data Protection Act (2018), which requires organisations to
have appropriate technical and organisational cyber security measures in place to
