answer text <p>Under the first stage of the Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme (ACRS) Pathway 3, we are offering resettlement places to up to 1,500 eligible individuals from the three identified cohorts which are British Council contractors, GardaWorld contractors and Chevening alumni.</p><p>We recognise there are many vulnerable individuals who remain in Afghanistan and the region. However, it is important we take into account the capacity of the UK to resettle people is not unlimited and difficult decisions have to be made on who will be prioritised for resettlement.</p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>As part of the 2020/21 GP contract, to help maximise the time available for clinical tasks, the Government committed to a thorough review of levels of bureaucracy in general practice. As part of this work, in August 2022, a cross-Government concordat was published agreeing to seven co-designed principles to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy in general practice. Additionally, the Government has also worked to reduce administrative burdens on general practitioners by reforming who can provide medical evidence and certificates such as fit notes and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency medical checks, freeing up time for more appointments. The Department is continuing to work across Government and with the National Health Service to implement the solutions that emerge.</p> more like this

Data is then weighted to provide national totals. Breakdowns by Local Authority and parliamentary constituency are, therefore, not available.</p>

answer text <p>Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is intended to act as a contribution towards the extra costs that arise from needs related to a long-term health condition or disability. Entitlement is assessed on the basis of the needs arising from the health condition or disability, rather than a diagnosis of the health condition or disability itself.</p><p> </p><p>The enhanced rate of the Personal Independence Payment mobility component was always intended to be for those &quot;unable&quot; or &quot;virtually unable&quot; to walk. The 20-metre distance was introduced to identify those whose mobility is significantly more limited than that of other people. Individuals who can walk more than 20 metres can still receive the enhanced rate of the mobility component, if they cannot do so safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly or in a reasonable time period. We believe the current assessment criteria, including the 20-metre rule, are the best way of identifying people whose physical mobility is most limited and there are no immediate plans to make changes.</p><p> </p><p>The PIP assessment should reflect the impact of variations in an individual's level of impairment, including conditions which fluctuate, and whether the individual can complete each activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and in a reasonable time period. When choosing the descriptor, the health professional should also consider an individual’s ability over a 12-month period, ensuring that fluctuations are taken into account. For each activity, if a descriptor applies on more than 50 per cent of the days in the 12-month period, that descriptor should be chosen. In general, health professionals should record function over an average year for conditions that fluctuate over months, per week for conditions that fluctuate by the day, and by the day for conditions that vary over a day.</p><p> </p><p>The department closely monitors all aspects of the assessment process, including how we assess fluctuating health conditions like multiple sclerosis. There are no current plans to make changes to the 50 per cent rule.</p>

answer text <p>Bridging hotels are not, and were never designed to be, permanent accommodation. That is why dedicated teams across central and local government have supported over 9,000 Afghans into settled homes.</p><p>However, around 8,000 remain in hotel accommodation. Long-term residency in hotels has prevented some Afghans from properly putting down roots, committing to employment and fully integrating into communities. From the end of April 2023, individuals staying in hotels and serviced accommodation began to receive legal notice to leave their temporary accommodation by a certain date.</p><p>Dedicated cross-government casework teams, made up of Home Office Liaison Officers and DWP staff, are based in hotels and are working alongside local authority officials to provide advice to Afghans, including information on how to rent in the private sector, find employment and English language training.</p><p>The government is providing £285 million of new funding to local authorities supporting the Afghan resettlement schemes. This includes £35 million which will go towards increasing the level of support available as well as a £250 million expansion of the Local Authority Housing Fund to help councils to source homes for Afghans currently in bridging accommodation.</p><p>This new, generous package of support comes in addition to the existing support available for people on the ACRS and ARAP schemes, including access to welfare system, the right to work and full access to public services.</p><p>The move from hotels into settled accommodation is in the best interests of families and individuals and will enable them to benefit from the freedoms of independent living that only suitable non-hotel accommodation can provide.</p>

Flood defence schemes in the Shrewsbury and Atcham constituency and wider surrounding areas are already benefitting from around £20 million of funding for several schemes, including the Severn Valley Water Management Scheme upstream of Shrewsbury. answer text <p>All pork meat sold in the United Kingdom should originate from either approved slaughterhouses or from imported meat that has entered the UK through approved channels.</p><p>The Food Standards Agency is present in all pig abattoirs in England and Wales, where every pig slaughtered is subject to ante and post-mortem inspection and responds to food safety incidents and foodborne outbreaks, working with local authorities and industry to remove from the market products that are not in compliance with safety legislation.</p><p>In the most recent full reporting year, 2021/22, 46 incidents and outbreaks involving pork and pork products were reported to the Agency and removed from the market, most of these due to contamination with Salmonella.</p><p>The Food Standards Agency works with Port Health Authorities and the Animal and Plant Health Agency to apply controls at border control posts. The levels of non-compliance identified in relation to imported pork products remain low. Between 1 January 2022 and the present, six consignments of pork from non-EU countries have been rejected.</p><p>In addition to these controls on Rest of World imports, recent surveillance at the UK border and at retail premises on EU imports has identified some pork meat products that did not meet the UK import requirements and these incidents have been resolved through recall and removal from the market.</p>
