Gender equality is a top development priority and priority for the UK. We will not achieve any of the Sustainable Development Goals while gender inequality persists. Gender equality is considered in the design of all of DFID’s programmes. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/10/2019 answer text <p>Today a girl is about one-third less likely to be cut than 30 years ago, but UNICEF estimates that at least 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). The UK leads the world in our support to the Africa-led movement to end FGM. Between 2000 and 2018, the global number of children out of primary school dropped from 100 million to 59 million. We are now stepping up on efforts to end preventable deaths of mothers, new-born babies and children in the developing world by 2030.</p><p>We work closely with many international partners including the African Union on UK priorities including HIV.
