answer text
The British Government is very concerned about the allegations that women's rights activists have been subject to torture during pre-trial detention in Saudi Arabia. We have raised concerns a number of times about these cases at Ministerial level with the Saudi authorities and will do so again. We consistently and unreservedly condemn torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. We raise our concerns wherever and whenever it occurs.

more like this

We repeatedly call on Israel to abide by its obligations under international law and have a regular dialogue with Israel on legal issues relating to the occupation.
more like this

answer text
We are aware of recent reports regarding Mostafa Al-Naggar and are tracking his case. We remain deeply concerned about allegations of enforced disappearance in Egypt. Officials continue to raise these issues and concerns about freedom of expression with the Egyptian authorities both in London and in Cairo. Egypt is a human rights priority country for the UK and the UK wants to see more political progress and better protection of human rights for all Egyptians, as set out in Egypt's Constitution. The Minister for the Middle East and North Africa raised concerns over freedom of expression with the Egyptian Foreign Minister during his visit to Cairo on 14 October.
more like this

In our dialogue with the Israeli authorities we have recognised their legitimate need to deploy security measures to address violence. We encourage them to deploy these in a way which minimises tension and use appropriate force. In instances where there have been accusations of excessive use of force, we have advocated swift, transparent investigations.
more like this

answer text
We continue to have strong concerns about reports of ill-treatment of Palestinian minors in Israeli military detention. We remain committed to working with Israel to secure improvements to the practices surrounding children in detention in Israel. We advocate for the mandatory use of audio-visual recording of interrogations, a reduction in the use of single hand ties, alternatives to night arrests and for the Israeli authorities to inform more consistently detained children of their legal rights. I raised the issue of children in detention with Israeli Justice Minister Shaked during my visit to Israel on 11 April 2018. We continue to fund projects providing legal aid to minors and capacity building to local lawyers.
more like this
