Most recently, DExEU Secretary of State, Steve Barclay, and I met the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, on 5 December, and the Prime Minister met him on 15 November. We also meet regularly in the Joint Ministerial Council, our primary forum for engagement, which has met seven times since the referendum.</p><p>Chief Minister Picardo observed in his statement on 23 October that we have worked “hand in glove” throughout the negotiations on Withdrawal. Local authorities that own housing stock are automatically registered and private organisations such as housing associations can voluntarily apply to register. Any applicant that is eligible for registration and meets these criteria must be registered.</p><p>The current process of registration is designed to provide the Regulator of Social Housing with assurance that providers are well-managed and financially viable. Almost all new applicants for registration have plans to provide fewer than 100 homes. This is why the Government committed to safeguard the post office network and protect existing rural services. The overall number of post offices across the UK remains at its most stable in decades with over 11,500 branches thanks to significant Government investment of over £2 billion since 2010.</p><p>While the Government sets the strategic direction for the Post Office, it allows the company the commercial freedom to deliver this strategy as an independent business. The distribution of branches is an operational matter of commercial judgement for Post Office management team. I have therefore asked Paula Vennells, the Group Chief Executive of Post Office Limited, to write to the hon Member on this matter. In 2017, the cost of prescriptions dispensed in the community was £9.17 billion, and we know that across England there is significant variation in what is being prescribed and to whom.</p><p> </p><p>NHS England has partnered with NHS Clinical Commissioners to support clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) in ensuring that they use their prescribing resources effectively and deliver the best patient outcomes from the medicines their local population use.</p><p> </p><p>During 2017/18 CCG guidance was published by NHS England and NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC) for:</p><p>- Items that should not be routinely prescribed in primary care (November 2017); and</p><p>- Conditions for which over the counter items should not routinely be prescribed in primary care (March 2018).</p><p> </p><p>The aim of this is to reduce unwarranted variation in prescribing, and introduce a more equitable framework from which CCGs can take individual and local implementation decisions.</p> answering member constituency Winchester answering member printed Steve Brine question first answered 12/12/2018 14:51:25 answering member 4067 label Biography information for Steve Brine

The factors that affect these trends are cross-cutting and there is variation between local authorities.
