answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/11/2018 answer text <p>The UK has a proud history of providing protection to those who need it and this Government is committed to delivering a fair and humane asylum system.</p><p>We recognise that asylum interviews are a vital part of the asylum process, ensuring that decision makers have available all relevant evidence so that they can make an informed decision. To that end, we have published detailed Home Office policy guidance setting out how caseworkers are expected to conduct asylum interviews, which was developed in collaboration with external partners, including the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Help to Save forms part of the Government’s commitment to supporting people at all income levels and all stages of life to save.</p><p> </p><p>Working families in receipt of working tax credits or Universal Credit will find a link to the Help to Save application site at existing touchpoints they have with Government including the online Tax Credits Service, Universal Credit pages on GOV.UK and through a dedicated section on the site for Northern Ireland residents, NI Direct. In addition, Universal Credit work coaches UK-wide are signposting Help to Save to those who could benefit. Individuals can also go directly to the Help to Save site to apply, or if they don’t have access to the internet they can set up an account by phoning 0300 322 7093.</p><p> </p><p>For the launch the Government used a range of coordinated communications across a variety of channels to target potential savers. This is a devolved matter. In England, the Forestry Commission works with Natural England and other conservation organisations and projects to help protect red squirrel enclaves and to allow the populations to expand.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The Forestry Commission also undertakes a number of actions to protect red squirrels from the impact of grey squirrels as outlined in the grey squirrel action plan for England. These actions include Countryside Stewardship funding for landowners who choose to help protect red squirrels within designated reserves.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Defra, in partnership with the United Kingdom Squirrel Alliance (UKSA), also provided funding for work by the Animal and Plant Health Agency for the development of a fertility control method for grey squirrels. The assessment must ensure that a thorough consideration of the impacts is made before any decision is taken.</p><p> </p><p>Since 2012, when the EU granted Burma duty-free, quota-free market access on “Everything But Arms”, EU imports from Burma rose by almost ten times to €1,558 million in 2017. The direct impact of a decision to suspend preferences and re-introduce tariffs would not be on the military, but on the textile businesses and their employees, including many vulnerable women employed in Burma's garment sector. We are working with Member States, and are in discussions with the Commission, to ensure that the likely impacts are thoroughly considered before any decision is made. answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/11/2018 answer text <p>Government has made extensive representations to the Office of Rail and Road as part of the Periodic Review 2018 process, which concluded on 31 October with the publication of the Final Determination. This has included the publication of the High Level Output Specification and Statement of Funds Available. Government has not, however, made specific, prescriptive representations to the effect that it expects operators to maximise the number of seats for each train path. Government has instead taken an outcomes-based approach, focussing on the outcomes that matter most to passengers and freight users, including safety, reliability and capacity, with the responsibility being on the industry to deliver these.</p><p> </p><p>Government’s representations to the Office of Rail and Road, including its response to the Draft Determination, which was published on 23 August 2018, have stressed that Government places great importance on better using and improving the capacity of the network, including by strengthening the System Operator, which provides advice on the better use of capacity.</p><p> </p><p>As the Periodic Review relates to funding and outputs for rail infrastructure, most decisions regarding the utilisation of capacity on the network and increases in seat numbers are made through the Department for Transport’s franchising programme.</p> answering member printed Baroness Sugg question first answered 12/11/2018 16:08:39 answering member 4584 label Biography information for Baroness Sugg
