answer text <p>The Government was elected with a mandate to reform and modernise the UK human rights framework. The UK has a proud tradition of respect for human rights which long pre-dates the 1998 Human Rights Act. The 1998 Act opened the system to abuse, which has damaged the credibility of human rights.</p><p> </p><p>We will bring forward proposals for a British Bill of Rights, which will replace the Human Rights Act. Our Bill will protect fundamental human rights, but also prevent their abuse and restore common sense to the system.</p><p> </p><p>We will fully consult on our proposals before introducing legislation.</p> more like this

answer text <p>The Parliamentary Voting System and Constituencies (PVSC) Act 2011 currently provides for the number of constituencies to be reduced from 650 to 600 and the Government remains committed to equalising the size of constituencies in order to make votes of more equal value, regardless of where in the country voters live.</p><p>The Boundary Commissions are currently due to commence work on their next reviews of Parliamentary constituencies in spring 2016 in order to submit final reports by 1 October 2018.</p><p> </p><p>The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for the regulation and payment of expenses, including office running costs, to Members of the House of Commons.</p> more like this

answer text <p>There are no official Government statistics on the number of UK citizens of voting age resident overseas, but the World Bank’s “Estimates of Migrants Stocks in 2010” as updated by the UN Department for Social and Economic Affairs in 2013 estimates there were approximately 5.2 million British born migrants living overseas.<strong><br> <br> </strong></p><p> </p><p>The Office for National Statistics’ Annual Population Survey estimates that the total number of EU citizens (excluding British citizens) resident in the UK was 2,507,000 in 2013 (excluding the citizens of Ireland, Cyprus and Malta). The estimates are broken down by local authority rather than Parliamentary constituency.</p> more like this

answer text <p>In July 2013 £4.2million funding was announced to support efforts aimed at increasing the completeness and accuracy of the register. In October 2013 £385,848 of this funding was awarded to 24 successful Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) applicants. The remainder of the funding, as announced on 5 February 2014, was shared between every ERO in Great Britain and five national organisations.
