answer text <p>Defra uses both monitoring and modelling to assess air quality in the UK. Measurement data is updated hourly on our website at:</p><p><a href="http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk" target="_blank">http://uk-air.defra.gov.uk</a> for the 142 automatic monitoring sites across the UK.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>While Defra does not monitor air pollution in central and eastern Europe, the UK air quality forecast provided by the Met Office takes account of European emissions and forecast weather conditions.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Defra also operates a network that measures particle numbers, size and composition, providing additional information about sources of particulate pollution. answer text <p>The Secretary of State has spoken with industry bodies and the Rural Payments Agency is now providing extra help for farmers to ensure that all farm businesses can submit their Basic Payment Scheme claims by the deadline.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>From Monday 23 March, farmers and their agents can use established forms and processes to complete their claims by the deadline. The RPA will input the data into the core system. All agents will soon have received maps of their clients’ land and those dealing with the most complex cases will be offered additional support. The RPA is also working to give them direct access to the system. If farmers or agents need help they should contact the Rural Payments Agency helpline on 0300 0200 301.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

answer text <p>Partnerships of this kind can make a valuable contribution to improving animal welfare. There are other examples where industry, animal welfare or animal keeping representative groups have provided local authorities with advice or training in relation to animal welfare work. answer text <p>Natural England has advised Basildon Borough Council throughout the planning process for the proposed development at the Nethermayne site. Its advice has focused on statutory interests such as the adjacent Site of Special Scientific Interest and protected species. Natural England has referred the council to other ecological consultees, including the Essex Wildlife Trust, Essex Field Club, and Basildon Natural History Society for advice on non-statutory nature conservation matters, including invertebrates.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Natural England provided limited advice on invertebrates as part of its response to the developers’ Outline Biodiversity Strategy. Natural England suggested greater tailoring could be made to address the impacts on specific invertebrates found at the development site and that updated surveys should be used to guide the design of the off-site compensatory grassland to benefit invertebrate species.</p><p> </p> more like this
