motion text That this House notes with concern the recurring problem of unauthorised Traveller encampments in many parts of the UK; further notes the ineffective response from various agencies in preventing such encampments, especially in relation to Traveller groups being evicted from one site of public land, often a public park or recreation facility, only to return days or weeks later; believes that police forces do not operate consistent policies in relation to illegal encampments which has led to criminal and anti-social behaviour not being sufficiently dealt with; regrets the courts' reluctance to issue clear injunctions banning Traveller groups from constantly returning to the same site of public land; recognises that the human rights of Traveller groups must be taken into consideration; considers the current arrangements, where local authorities are obliged to seek repeated eviction notices, are placing large costs on local authorities, including those related to the cost of cleaning up and clearing sites after Traveller groups have been evicted; and calls on the Government to review the existing legal powers and procedures already in place to deal with unauthorised encampments and then take all necessary action to prevent the recurring problem of these encampments so that the interests of local residents, who have a right to enjoy the public amenities and facilities that they pay for through their taxes, are effectively protected.

motion text That this House notes with concern that a quarter of five-year olds in England have tooth decay; further notes that tooth decay is the leading cause of hospital admissions for five to nine-year olds, despite being largely preventable, with tens of thousands of children undergoing general anaesthesia for tooth extractions every year; recognises that providing oral health education, improving access to dental services and reducing levels of sugar consumption are important steps in tackling childhood tooth decay across the UK; is encouraged by the success of oral health improvement programmes, such as Childsmile in Scotland and Designed to Smile in Wales; and calls on the Government to take concerted action to address the epidemic of childhood tooth decay. more like this

motion text That this House notes with concern the reports of Capita's mismanagement of the National Dental Performers' List; understands that any dentist who wants to practise general NHS dentistry in England needs to be granted a Dental Performer number; is concerned that since the management of the list was contracted to Capita in September 2015 the service has experienced severe delays in processing applications, with hundreds of dentists having to wait months for a decision, unable to earn a living and serve NHS patients; further notes that these delays might threaten the financial viability of many dental practices as they struggle to fill the vacancies in their practices while applicants wait for their Performer Numbers; believes that this situation is not only stressful due to the potential loss in earnings for the dentists affected but has also deprived hundreds of thousands of NHS patients of an opportunity to access dentistry services; hopes NHS England continues to support Capita in recovering a normal service; and urges the Government to consider whether Capita's failures make it appropriate for NHS England to terminate its contract for the running of the National Dental Performers' List and other primary care support services.

motion text That this House recognises the strain that infertility can have on couples' mental health and relationships; notes that more than eight in 10 clinical commissioning groups in England do not comply with the national NICE guidelines on IVF treatment and the subsequent effects that poor treatment provision has on patients; acknowledges the consistent approach taken by all the Welsh and Scottish health boards when commissioning IVF treatment; further notes that three clinical commissioning groups in England have decommissioned their assisted conception services in the last year as a cost saving measure; expresses concern that a further eight are currently considering decommissioning their assisted conception services entirely and a further 18 are currently considering reducing provision as a cost saving measure; and therefore calls on the Government to stop clinical commissioning groups from cutting their assisted conception services and encourages them to comply with the NICE guidelines. more like this

motion text That this House notes that those on apprenticeships aged 16 to 18 or 19 and over, but in the first year of their apprenticeship, earn only £3.30 per hour but are required to pay for their prescriptions, whereas those of the same age but in full-time education receive free prescriptions; considers this a serious barrier to access to health care for such groups and a disincentive to those wishing to commence an apprenticeship; calls on the Government to make free prescriptions available for this group on the same basis as their contemporaries in full-time education; further notes that this is a particular problem and serious disincentive for young people who suffer from chronic conditions requiring regular medication, such as colitis and Crohn's disease; and notes that it would be consistent with the findings of the Prescription Charges Coalition Report - Paying the Price, 2013, if the Government were to pay particular attention to the needs of such groups. more like this
