Foreign and Commonwealth Office<p>The UK Government is committed to creating a Blue Belt around the UK and its Overseas Territories, subject to local support and environmental need.</p><p>Over 3 million square kilometres of British waters have already been protected. The Blue Belt Programme, which runs from 2016 to 2020, will ensure that that over 4 million square kilometres are designated by 2020.
