The overall aim of the UK\u2019s plutonium management and disposition programme is to plan, develop and implement a management solution for separated civil plutonium in the UK until the inventory has been reduced to zero and is put beyond reach.<\/p>
The Government will it be in a position to proceed once it is confident that its preferred option could be implemented safely and securely, that it is affordable, deliverable, and offers value for money.<\/p>
