Any suspension of a pupil, even for short periods of time, must be in line with the relevant legislation and be recorded as a suspension.<\/p>
The department will shortly be consulting on the \u2018Behaviour in Schools\u2019 guidance and the \u2018Suspensions and Permanent Exclusions\u2019 guidance. These will equip headteachers to create calm, orderly, safe and supportive school environments where exclusions are only ever used lawfully and as a last resort.<\/p>"}
