The Government has announced a historic expansion in domestic supply of the medical workforce by funding an additional 1,500 medical school places in England available to domestic students from 2018-19. In addition, from 2019-20 English universities will not be limited in the number of international students they can recruit on a full fee paying basis.<\/p>

For medical school intake targets, the only distinction that is made is between home or European Union students and those from outside the EU. As such, the additional 1,500 medical school places the Government is funding will be available to students from across the United Kingdom and all European Economic Area countries subject to the usual residency requirements.<\/p>"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1542", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Philip Dunne"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Ludlow"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Philip Dunne"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2017-09-11", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "8135"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2017-09-11T14:06:42.187Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2017-09-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Medicine: Education"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what estimate he has made of the number of extra UK medical school places that will be made available to international medical students after the removal of the cap on the number of such places.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4073", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Dr Sarah Wollaston"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Totnes"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Dr Sarah Wollaston"} ], "uin" : "7815"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/390919", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Business, Innovation and Skills"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/390919/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
