The programme runs from 2021 to 2027, with the projects already underway.<\/p><p> <\/p><ul><li>£150 million has been allocated to 25 local areas across England to trial and demonstrate which practical innovative actions can work to improve resilience to flooding and coastal erosion.<\/li><li>£36 million is dedicated to the coastal transition accelerator programme with projects in East Riding of Yorkshire, North Norfolk, Dorset, and Cornwall, where they are exploring opportunities that support communities and businesses to adapt to a changing coast.<\/li><li>A further £8 million is allocated to the adaptation pathways programme for work on long term planning for climate adaptation in the Thames and Humber estuaries, the Severn Valley, and Yorkshire.<\/li><\/ul><p>The remaining available funding is being used to provide strategic support across all the projects and the evaluations of the programme.<\/p>"}

Prior to the recent military action, there were already 1.65 million people in need of humanitarian assistance in the region. The UN reports at least 160,000 people have been displaced since the Turkish military action began, including at least 70,000 children. Critical civilian infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, has also been affected by the conflict. The ongoing military action on the ground is also impacting the humanitarian response. Many NGOs have already had to withdraw staff, and some have suspended activities altogether. This is very concerning, and we are in close discussion with our NGO partners and the UN.<\/p>"}
