The Home Office publishes data on asylum decisions, appeals, support, and detention and returns in the ‘Immigration System Statistics Quarterly Release’.

The following data is available:

In the ‘asylum and resettlement detailed datasets’:

- initial decisions made on asylum applications, including withdrawals: table Asy_D02

- outcomes of asylum appeals raised at the First-Tier Tribunal: table Asy_D07

- asylum seekers in receipt of support, by support type and accommodation type: table Asy_D09

In the ‘returns and detention datasets’:

- people in immigration detention

- returns, including asylum-related returns

Information on how to use the datasets can be found in the ‘Notes’ page of the workbooks. The latest data relate to the year ending March 2023, with the exception of returns which cover up to December 2022. Information on future Home Office statistical release dates can be found in the ‘Research and statistics calendar’.

These datasets are published separately, meaning it is not possible to link between them to know whether, for example, an asylum seeker with a withdrawn claim was receiving support or lodged an appeal.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4320", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Robert Jenrick"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Newark"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Robert Jenrick"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-09-07", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : [{"_value" : "195452"} , {"_value" : "195454"} , {"_value" : "195455"} ], "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-09-07T10:03:37.66Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-07-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Asylum"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, how many and what proportion of asylum decisions made since 1 January 2023 which were classified as (a) explicit and (b) implicit withdrawals led to (i) a successful appeal and (ii) the submission of a new asylum application by the applicant.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4359", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Stephen Kinnock"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Aberavon"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Stephen Kinnock"} ], "uin" : "195453"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/47195", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Ministry of Defence"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/47195/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The £200 million Forces Help to Buy scheme commenced on 1 April 2014, meaning that Servicemen and women can now borrow up to 50% of their salary, up to a maximum of £25,000, interest-free, providing a boost to those needing to find a deposit to buy their own home.

To assist the transition of serving personnel to civilian life, the MOD offers a wide-ranging resettlement programme which includes a briefing by the Joint Services Housing Advice Office. This offers advice and information about a range of topics that armed forces personnel may find useful relating to an individual's housing needs before they leave the armed forces.

Once a person leaves service, any need for social housing becomes a local authority matter. The MOD is working closely with the Department for Communities and Local Government to ensure the fair treatment of service families in need of social housing and ensure they are given proper priority on housing waiting lists.

The Government recognises that there is more that can be done to provide practical support to our veterans and their families in this area. In February I announced LIBOR funding of £40 million to support charities which assist veterans with housing needs in order to build new homes, buy new accommodation and renovate old facilities. Projects are expected to include hostels and half-way houses for veterans who have fallen on hard times, supported housing for the wounded, injured and sick, and long-term care homes.
