Data on the number of Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in the Metropolitan Police Service and in England, as at 31 March each year, from 2007 to 2022 can be found in the <a href=\"https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1093587/open-data-table-police-workforce-270722.ods\" target=\"_blank\">\u2018Workforce Open Data Table\u2019<\/a>. The latest mid-year figure, as at 30 September 2022, is also available in the <a href=\"https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1130953/police-workforce-sep22-tables-300922.ods\" target=\"_blank\">data tables<\/a> accompanying the latest \u2018Police Workforce\u2019 bulletin.<\/p><p>On 31 January, the Government confirmed a total police funding settlement of up to £17.2 billion in 2023/24, an increase of up to £287 million when compared to 2022/23. Assuming full take up of precept flexibility, overall police funding available to PCCs will increase by up to £523 million (3.6% in cash terms) next year. Individual force funding for 2023/24 can be found in the <a href=\"https://questions-statements.parliament.uk/written-statements/detail/2022-12-14/hcws443\" target=\"_blank\">accompanying tables<\/a> to the Written Ministerial Statement published as part of the Police Funding Settlement.<\/p><p>The Home Office does not hold specific information relating to the funding of Police Community Support Officers. Decisions on how to use funding and resources are an operational matter for Chief Constables. Police and Crime Commissioners are best placed to make resourcing decisions within their communities based on their local knowledge and experience.<\/p>"}

This support includes extensive grant funding for businesses that have been required by law to close as a result of, or have been severely impacted by, localised and national restrictions.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Local authorities should pay businesses in line with the restriction period to which the funding is allocated to ensure local economies are supported during restrictions. Any unspent funding allocated to local authorities under a mandatory grants scheme will be recovered after a reconciliation process. It is not expected that discretionary schemes, such as the ARG, will have any unallocated funding as we would expect local authorities to apportion this funding to businesses. We are working closely with local authorities to ensure funding gets out the door to businesses as quickly as possible and to avoid any unnecessary underspend.<\/p>"}
