This is on top of a range measures introduced since 2010 to ensure victims improve their experience of the CJS. Last year the revamped Victims\u2019 Code was issued to ensure people receive more support when reporting a crime \u2013 knowing what will happen from the moment they report a crime to the end of a trial and beyond, as well as who to demand that help from if it is not been offered up.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Next year, victims\u2019 rights to tell the court how their crime has affected them will be set out in statute; a new nationwide Victims\u2019 Information Service will be set up to ensure better information and support; and millions of pounds will be invested in improving the court experience.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Crucially, we will also develop plans to require advocates to undergo specialist training before taking part in sexual abuse or rape trials, which will make going to court easier and less distressing for victims.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) does not have figures for the number of applications received or rejected by type of injury. CICA pay awards based on injury descriptions, from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme's 'Tariff of Injuries', these are recorded once CICA have assessed someone as eligible to receive the compensation payable for that injury.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>CICA can only produce figures based on awards paid. Departments are enabling GDS to centrally collect data on site usage across the GOV.UK estate, to provide an end to end, anonymised view of how people interact with government online. In developing this project, both GDS and departments have taken into account both the data protection regime and other guidance like the Government\u2019s Data Ethics Framework.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>Clear and robust Memorandums of Understanding set out the terms of the project. The MOUs outline the responsibilities of both the GDS and departments in a number of areas, including handling the relevant data to ensure there is no unauthorised access, loss, misuse, modification or disclosure.<\/p><p> <\/p><p>The MoUs will be regularly updated in line with the government\u2019s commitment to continuous improvement in digital services and best practice in data and privacy standards. It is a long standing government policy to operate in the spirit of full transparency, and GDS plan to publish the document in due course.<\/p>"}
