Sitting days are kept under close review to ensure changes in demand are met by the court system. In November, we allocated an extra 700 days to the Crown Court for this financial year in response to an increase in the number of cases coming to court.<\/p>
Sitting days are monitored and assigned based on the number of cases we expect the courts to receive annually. This approach has enabled us to reduce the number of outstanding cases in the Crown Court in England and Wales by almost 40% since 2014.<\/p>

We have drawn up an implementation plan for the Bishop of Truro\u2019s various recommendations, dividing them into short, medium and longer term priorities. Police and Crime Plans are an important strategic planning tool for Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and were introduced as a statutory requirement for commissioners as part of the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011. Section 5 of that Act stipulates that a PCC must issue a new Police and Crime plan as soon as practicable after taking office \u2013 a commissioner may also vary an existing plan or issue a new one at any time, the frequency with which this is done is determined on the basis of local need.<\/p>
Alongside this, section 7 of that Act requires PCCs to set out the victims\u2019 services that are planned for the rest of the period that the PCC will hold office in their police and crime plan.
