In June 2018, Network Rail published their document \u201cEast Coast Main Line Route Study \u2013 Railway Investment Choices\u201d which identifies the capacity constraints on each section of the East Coast Main Line. Network Rail is undertaking a detailed capacity assessment of the Church Fenton to Newcastle section of the route which is due to be completed by mid 2020.<\/p>
