The role of locally elected Police and Crime Commissioners is to hold their forces to account, including on how they tackle the crimes that matter most to residents and businesses.<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>The government is committed to tackling fly-tipping in rural and urban areas. Local authorities and the Environment Agency have a wide range of enforcement powers to tackle fly-tipping and we have recently strengthened these. In 2016 we gave local authorities the power to issue fixed penalty notices for small scale fly-tipping and enhanced the local authorities and Environment Agency\u2019s ability to search and seize the vehicles of suspected fly-tippers. We recently consulted on the power to issue fixed penalty notices to householders who fail in their duty of care and pass their waste to fly-tippers. Two thirds of fly-tips incidents involve household waste so this will help address the main source of the crime. Subject to parliamentary approval this new power will be available to local authorities and the Environment Agency later this year.<\/p><p> <\/p>"}

This has delivered a 13% increase in quota for the under 10m fleet. In 2016, it generated 677.5 tonnes of additional quota.<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>In addition, for quota stocks phased in under the landing obligation since 2015, the under 10m fleet has received additional quota. This has provided the non-sector with historic high catch limits which they have been able to take advantage of. To date in 2018, the under 10m fleet has been allocated an additional 1,250 tonnes of quota, equating to an additional £3 million.<\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p> <\/p><p>It should also be recognised that a significant proportion of catch brought in by the under 10m fleet such as lobster and crabs are not subject to quota controls.<\/p><p> <\/p>"}
