The Government remains firmly committed to completing our reforms to the national school funding system, and introducing a direct national funding formula.

This will mean that each mainstream school is allocated funding on the same basis, wherever it is in the country, and every child can be given the same opportunities, based on a consistent assessment of their needs.

The Department is moving carefully towards the direct national funding formula over the coming years, working with the sector to ensure that the transition is a smooth one. From 2023-24, local authorities will have to move their own funding formulae closer to the national funding formula as part of our step-by-step approach to transition. Local minimum funding guarantee protections will remain in place to maintain stability for schools and protect them from sudden drops in pupil-led per-pupil funding.

We are also continuing to develop the schools national funding formula to allocate funding nationally in line with our recent consultation: https://consult.education.gov.uk/funding-policy-unit/implementing-the-direct-national-funding-formula/supporting_documents/Implementing%20the%20direct%20national%20funding%20formula%20%20government%20consultation.pdf. The Department's response will be published in due course.

The Department will also provide an update on the Schools Bill in due course.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4814", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jonathan Gullis"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Stoke-on-Trent North"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Jonathan Gullis"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2022-10-24", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2022-10-24T15:15:40.923Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "60"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Education"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Education"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2022-10-24", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Schools: Finance"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what recent progress he has made in moving from a National Funding Formula for schools to a direct funding formula.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "true", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/111", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Nick Gibb"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Bognor Regis and Littlehampton"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Nick Gibb"} ], "uin" : "901778"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1535067", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Cabinet Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1535067/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The NHS has published a delivery plan setting out a clear vision for how the NHS will recover and expand elective services over the next three years.

To support this recovery, the government plans to spend more than £8 billion from 2022-23 to 2024-25, in addition to the £2 billion Elective Recovery Fund and £700 million Targeted Investment Fund already made available to systems last financial year (2021/2022) to help drive up and protect elective activity. Taken together, this funding could deliver the equivalent of around nine million more checks and procedures and will mean the NHS in England can aim to deliver around 30% more elective activity by 2024-25 than before the pandemic. A significant part of this funding will be invested in staff – both in terms of capacity and skills. The Department has also committed to a £5.9 billion investment in capital – for new beds, equipment and technology.

Having met our target to eliminate long waits of two years or more for elective procedures in July, our next ambition is to eliminate waits of eighteen months or more by next April. Steps being taken include increasing capacity, seeking alternate capacity in other trusts or the independent sector, and engaging with patients to understand their choices.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4423", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Will Quince"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Colchester"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Will Quince"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2022-11-01", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2022-11-01T16:19:37.863Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2022-10-24", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Surgery: Waiting Lists"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what steps she is taking to reduce the backlog of operations in the NHS.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4131", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Jim Shannon"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Strangford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Jim Shannon"} ], "uin" : "69628"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1535106", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department of Health and Social Care"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1535106/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The choice of host for international sporting events such as the FIFA World Cup is at the discretion of the international federation, and its member associations.

The Football Associations across the UK have also worked closely with the Ukrainian FA - directly, and through European football’s governing body, to provide support.

With 1.25 million vacancies across the UK, Government’s focus is firmly on supporting people, including young people, into and to progress in work. Our approach is based on clear evidence about the importance of employment, particularly where it is full-time, in substantially reducing the risks of poverty. Employment support is a transferred matter in Northern Ireland.

The government understands the pressures people are facing with the cost of living and has taken further decisive action to help. The Energy Price Guarantee is supporting millions of households – including young people - with rising energy costs, and the Chancellor made clear it will continue to do so from now until April next year.
The Northern Ireland Energy Price Guarantee will provide households in Northern Ireland with equivalent financial support with their electricity and gas bills as for those in Great Britain beginning 1st November 2022 and backdated to 1st October 2022.

This is in addition to the over £37bn of cost of living support announced earlier in the year, which includes Cost of Living Payments of £650 (paid in two lump sums of £326 and £324) to more than 8 million low-income households on means-tested benefits and £150 to individuals receiving disability benefits – including young people who are in receipt of eligible benefits. These payments are delivered UK-wide.
