As I made clear on 6 January during a Westminster Hall debate, the UK remains concerned about the detention of Palestinian children in Israeli prisons.

On 23 November 2015, officials from our Embassy in Tel Aviv raised our concerns about the treatment of Palestinian minors in Israeli military detention with the Israeli Chief Military Prosecutor. We welcome recent improvements made by the Israeli authorities, including increasing the age of majority from 16 to 18 years old. However, we remain concerned at the number of Palestinian minors held in Israeli detention. We will also fund another visit of the delegation who authored the independent report on Children in Military Custody in February to report on further progress.

We continue to push for further measures to ensure that international standards are upheld in regards to the treatment of Palestinian children detained.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1487", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Mr Tobias Ellwood"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Bournemouth East"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr Tobias Ellwood"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2016-01-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2016-01-20T14:20:22.71Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "16"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2016-01-14", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Israel: Palestinians"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, if he will make representations to Israel of the implications of its obligations under the Geneva Convention for the practice of forcible transportation of child prisoners from Palestine to Israeli jails.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/3914", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Shabana Mahmood"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Birmingham, Ladywood"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Shabana Mahmood"} ], "uin" : "22683"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/444999", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/444999/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

We remain concerned about the use of a dual court system whereby Palestinians, except East Jerusalem residents, are subject to the Israeli military court system, irrespective of the charge, whereas Israeli citizens are dealt with by the Israeli civil justice system. The Student Income and Expenditure Survey (SIES) 2011/12 measured the income during the academic year[1] from continuous jobs held by part-time students; that is a job that the student had before the start of the academic year and that was likely to continue until after the end of the academic year. The statistics can be found in Table 3.9 at the link below. The next iteration, SIES 2014/15 will be published in early 2016.

The Higher Education Statistics Agency’s (HESA) Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE) data collection, and their follow-up Longitudinal Destination of Leavers from Higher Education (LDLHE) survey, measures the incomes of part-time graduates six months and forty months (3.5 years) after graduating. Student Loans for Tuition Fees have been available to part-time students meeting eligibility criteria since the academic year 2012/13. The earliest these borrowers may reach their Statutory Repayment Due Date (SRDD) for their loans is April 2016. After April 2016 Student Loans Company (SLC) statistics on Income Contingent Loan Repayments by Cohort will include part-time borrowers and show how many students are earning in excess of the £21,000 threshold and therefore making student loan repayments. The latest statistics, which refer primarily to full-time loan borrowers, are available in Table 3 at the following link:
