My Department works closely with the Overseas Territories in pursuit of our obligations under the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Four of the UK's thirty three World Heritage Sites are situated in the Overseas Territories of Bermuda, Gibraltar, Tristan da Cunha and the Pitcairn Islands, and we will welcome applications from further sites to be considered for the UK's Tentative List when the review is launched this year.<\/p>

Pitcairn's disease free bee population has resulted in the production of high quality honey which is exported across the globe. While no recent assessment of promoting this excellent local produce has taken place, the Government did fund an apiculture programme for Pitcairn in 1998 which included an analysis of the bees and honey production. In addition, part of an ongoing Defra-funded Darwin Plus project is advising the Pitcairn Government on improving biosecurity to reduce the risk of invasive species impacting honey production. The UK remains committed to supporting the people of the Pitcairn Islands and maximising opportunities for economic development. The history curriculum gives teachers and schools the freedom and flexibility to use specific examples from history to teach pupils about the history of Britain and the wider world, this can include the Falklands War. Schools and teachers themselves can determine which examples, topics and resources to use to stimulate and challenge pupils and reflect key points in history. They can also use specific historical anniversaries in their teaching.<\/p>
Additionally, there is scope within the citizenship curriculum to highlight relevant key historical events. Through citizenship, which is part of the national curriculum at key stages 3 and 4, pupils learn about the key elements of the constitution of the United Kingdom and its relations with the rest of Europe, the Commonwealth, the United Nations and the wider world. The subject helps to prepare pupils to play a full and active part in society and teaches them how to explore political and social issues critically, to weigh up evidence, to debate and to make reasoned arguments. As with other aspects of the curriculum, schools have flexibility over how they deliver these subjects, so they can develop an integrated approach that is sensitive to the needs and background of their pupils.<\/p>

VAT is a broad-based tax on consumption and the 20 per cent standard rate applies to most goods and services. This includes electricity supplied at electric vehicle charging points in public places<\/p>
<\/p>
However, in order to keep costs down for families, all domestic fuel and power, including the supply of electricity for domestic use, attracts the reduced rate of VAT (5 per cent). The reduced rate therefore also applies to charging electric vehicles at home.<\/p>
<\/p>
Expanding the existing relief would come at a cost. VAT makes a significant contribution towards the public finances, raising around £130 billion in 2019-20, and helps fund the Government's priorities including the NHS, schools, and defence. Any loss in tax revenue would have to be balanced by a reduction in public spending, increased borrowing, or increased taxation elsewhere. Of this, Havering London Borough Council will receive £37 million, an increase of 13.6% per head of their population aged 2 to 18 years old. This increase, of 13% nationally, comes on top of the £1.5 billion increase over the last two years and will continue to support the local authorities and schools with the increasing costs they are facing.<\/p> The department is also investing £2.6 billion between 2022 and 2025 to deliver new places and improve existing provision for pupils with SEND or who require alternative provision.
