The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) will not affect the way the United Kingdom Government runs the National Health Service. It has been made clear by negotiators from both the United States and the European Union that it is up to the UK alone to decide how the NHS is run and any assertion that TTIP will undermine the Government’s control of the NHS is a red herring.

The TTIP could offer great benefits to British business and for British jobs. Greater consistency in existing and new regulatory requirements would make it easier for companies - especially small and medium enterprises - to access markets and, for patients, potentially help to increase access to new medicines and medical devices.

The NI Executive is expected to manage emerging pressures by identifying savings and reallocating resources within its overall allocations set by the Treasury. The First Minister has made it clear that he believes this is no longer achievable in 2014/15. The Prime Minister commissioned a review into the Muslim Brotherhood. We must not prejudge the review’s findings, the purpose of which is to inform Government policy towards the Muslim Brotherhood. Its scope includes linked and affiliated organisations and individuals the review will take account of evidence relating to allegations of such links. The review is internal but we expect to say something publicly about its conclusions after the summer recess.

As part of the internal review into the activities and influence of the Muslim Brotherhood, the Government has drawn on a range of input from independent experts and governments. The review is comprehensive and is looking at the Muslim Brotherhood’s origins, philosophy, activities, record in and out of government; and its organisation and activities in the UK and abroad. This has included seeking views and evidence from our allies and partner governments in Europe, as well as the Middle East and North Africa.
