No prosecutions have yet been brought under the new code and to date we assess the impact of the new code has been limited. However, a lack of clarity over implementation and intent has caused concern. We have urged the authorities in Brunei to consider the implementation of the new code carefully and ensure that it is in line with international human rights norms and Brunei\u2019s international obligations.
