By governing the taxation of cross-border income flows in a predictable manner and eliminating double taxation and excessive taxation, tax treaties promote international trade and investment, leading to sustainable tax revenues, which are vital in financing development. Sport England’s latest Active People Survey results show that the number of women playing sport and being active in England is increasing faster than the number of men, with 7.12 million females aged 16 years or over playing sport once a week.

Andy Murray's recent success at Wimbledon, and the British Tennis team's David Cup win, are fantastic achievements and real boosts to tennis in the UK.

The Government is committed to getting more people from every background involved in sport and physical activity, including tennis. This is set out in government's strategy, Sporting Future: A New Strategy for an Active Nation which outlines clear support for initiatives that enable more people to play, watch and volunteer in sport.

Sport England's new strategy, Towards an Active Nation, published in May 2016, builds on the government's strategy and sets out how Sport England will be investing in grassroots sport to support participation.

Between 2013 and 2017 Sport England is already investing £17.4 million in the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) to get more people playing tennis and will continue to support work across the country to ensure that everyone who wants to get involved with tennis is able to do so.

Responsibility for grassroots sport is devolved in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and it is for the relevant Sports Councils to consider how best to increase participation in tennis and sport more widely in those countries.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/3950", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Dame Tracey Crouch"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Chatham and Aylesford"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Tracey Crouch"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2016-07-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2016-07-20T15:59:14.16Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "10"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Culture, Media and Sport"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Culture, Media and Sport"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2016-07-15", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Tennis: Public Participation"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what plans she has to use the recent success of Andy Murray and other British tennis players to increase levels of participation in tennis.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4420", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Gavin Newlands"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Paisley and Renfrewshire North"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Gavin Newlands"} ], "uin" : "42922"} ], "itemsPerPage" : 10, "next" : "http://eldaddp.azurewebsites.net/answeredquestions.text?_page=1&max-AnswerDate=2016-07-19", "page" : 0, "startIndex" : 1, "totalResults" : 95233, "type" : ["http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#ListEndpoint", "http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#Page"]} }
