On 2 July 2019 five major gambling operators committed to raise their contribution to funding for research education and treatment to 1% over a four year period, and as part of that to spend a cumulative total of £100m over four years on expanding treatment services. On 15 June 2020 industry body the Betting and Gaming Council set out further detail about the allocation of industry donations for the 2020-21 financial year, and announced that the charity GambleAware would be funded to expand treatment services.<\/p>
<\/strong><\/p>The government has been clear that the gambling industry has a responsibility to protect people from gambling harm and support those who have been affected. It welcomed industry\u2019s commitment to increase contributions and will monitor closely the progress of these new measures. While this a voluntary agreement, Ministers and officials have been clear that funds must be spent independently of industry and focused exclusively on reducing gambling related harm.<\/p>

To be eligible to receive Advanced Learner Loans funding, all providers must be listed on the Skills Funding Agency\u2019s (SFA) Register of Training Organisations.<\/p>
The Register includes due diligence, for example, compliance with legislation and capacity and capability questions designed to assess the ability of the provider to deliver contracts to the required standard and determine if they are financially robust. The SFA considers a provider\u2019s track record of delivering education and training. For providers delivering just loans-funded provision, a financial health assessment of \u2018good\u2019 or \u2018outstanding\u2019 is required.<\/p>
<\/p>
Once providers have met the entry criteria, and approved to offer loan-funded provision to learners, they are subject to a range of further measures and controls. These include reviews of their financial health, audit and assessment of their qualification achievement rates. Providers are also required to comply with robust funding and performance rules.<\/p>

The Department and Public Health England are currently undertaking a procurement exercise to secure vaccine to support the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme for girls. The procurement will take account of the costs and benefits of all vaccines offered to establish which provides best value for money for the National Health Service.<\/p>
<\/p>
In November 2015, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), the expert body that advises the Government on all immunisation matters, advised that a targeted HPV vaccination programme should be undertaken for men who have sex with men up to 45 years of age who attend genitourinary medicine and HIV clinics. They noted that this should be subject to procurement of the vaccine and delivery of the programme at a cost-effective price. The JCVI acknowledged that finding a way to implement its advice would be challenging and made clear that work was needed by the Department and others to consider commissioning and delivery routes for this programme. This work is already underway and we will announce our plans as soon as we can.<\/p>"}
