Trusted traders will face no routine physical checks on their goods moving in the green lane. The only physical checks completed will be risk-based and intelligence-led to target smuggling, criminality, abuse or specific risks to animal, plant or public health. For agrifood goods, we will also radically reduce the number of visual inspections done on consignments in the green lane - from 100 per cent now to 5 per cent by 2025.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4210", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-05-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "HL7306"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-05-04T16:04:37.707Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "208"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-04-19", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "UK Internal Trade: Northern Ireland"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask His Majesty's Government whether the routine visual checks for five per cent of movements of non-agricultural goods through the Green Lane into Northern Ireland under the Windsor Framework will be in addition to intelligence-led and risk-based checks.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4970", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Weir of Ballyholme"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Weir of Ballyholme"} ], "uin" : "HL7305"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1453841", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Transport"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1453841/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

My remarks referred to the Short Straits as an example of what is being done to provide sufficient capacity.

Operators are endeavouring to run additional services across different routes, including the short straits and Cairnryan to Larne route, to absorb the demand created across affected P&O routes. For example, Stena are already running an additional vessel on the Cairnryan to Larne route.

My Department is regularly engaging with all relevant operators, to maintain an up to date picture of demand management across sea routes into the UK and between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. I am aware that officials in Defra are regularly engaging with a wide range of food suppliers, to monitor the supply of food to the UK, including Northern Ireland. Officials across Government are conducting similar engagement with suppliers of other goods.

I can confirm that between August 2015 to June 2020, the Department for Transport (DfT) has paid a total of £19.4m for the use of Manston Airfield as a lorry park. DfT paid £10.3m as part of the EU Exit no deal preparation contingency planning and £9.1m for the use of Manston Airfield for business as usual and Operation Stack. This has enabled DfT to use Manston Airfield to hold HGVs for traffic management purposes, in the event of disruption of flow at the short straits crossings.

The calculation of child maintenance is based upon gross income information from the most recent tax year provided directly to the DWP by HMRC.
