      ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1671450/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "<p>The Department asked the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) to develop recommendations for the National Health Service on whether licensed antivirals for COVID-19 should be routinely funded by the NHS based on an assessment of their costs and benefits. NICE published guidance in March 2023 that recommends the antiviral Paxlovid (nirmatrelvir+ritonavir) for those at highest risk of serious illness from COVID-19 and the NHS is now legally required to fund treatment in line with NICE\u2019s recommendations. The Department procured stock of Paxlovid during the pandemic and has set up a distribution network to both primary and secondary care, in England, as devolved administrations have their own arrangements, so that all eligible patients can access the treatment.<\/p><p>NICE is in the process of developing recommendations for the NHS on the use of the antivirals molnupiravir and remdesivir, and is also developing guidance for the NHS on the potential expanded use of Paxlovid. NICE published final draft guidance that recommends expanded use of Paxlovid in August 2023. Following discussions between the Department, NHS England and NICE, NICE has recently consulted on an NHS England proposal to vary the funding requirement that normally applies three months after the publication of NICE guidance to allow a phased rollout to all eligible patients, considering the capacity of the NHS to implement NICE\u2019s recommendations in full. NICE will carefully consider the comments received in response to the consultation in making its final recommendations. Molnupiravir is available to NHS patients in line with the United Kingdom\u2019s interim clinical commissioning policy pending the publication of final NICE guidance.<\/p>"}

This includes information about the different kind of interpreters who may be booked to help deaf and hard of hearing people at meetings: British Sign Language (BSL)/English interpreters, lip speakers, speech to text reporters (STTRs) and electronic notetakers. These forms of communication may be used in rooms without induction loops. It should be noted that even in rooms where there is an induction loop, some deaf and hard of hearing people need to rely on alternative means of communication. An infra-red driven hearing loop system is available in House of Commons Committee rooms. A video is also available on the Parliament website, in subtitled and signed versions, which informs visitors about the extent of the availability of the system. People with hearing difficulties can use the system by obtaining a personal loop from the reception desk in either the Main Committee Corridor or the first floor of Portcullis House.<br><br>The House of Commons has been awarded the Action on Hearing Loss, Louder than Words charter mark, a nationally recognised award that shows people who are deaf or have hearing loss that an organisation offers a fully deaf aware service. The House of Commons continues to work with Action on Hearing Loss to improve our facilities for those who have hearing loss or are deaf.<\/p>"}
