NHS England advise that there is currently one electric ambulance in operation. NHS England is working with industry partners and four ambulance trusts to pilot second generation electric ambulance vehicles, with 11 electric ambulances on order to be delivered in 2023/24.

It is not possible to accurately estimate how many and what proportion of ambulances will be electric by 2030. A number of factors will impact adoption including technological development, cost, and the availability of charging facilities. However, by 2030 NHS England expect all new emergency ambulance vehicles in England will be emission free (electric or hydrogen powered).
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4527", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Helen Whately"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Faversham and Mid Kent"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Helen Whately"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2023-07-18", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "193382"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2023-07-18T10:13:19.007Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2023-07-11", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Ambulance Services: Electric Vehicles"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, how many ambulances in England are (a) currently electric and (b) are scheduled to be electric by 2030.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4028", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Karl McCartney"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Lincoln"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Karl McCartney"} ], "uin" : "193381"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1010674", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department of Health and Social Care"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1010674/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

To help local authorities design reasonable and fair policies, the Department has issued the Care and Support (Charging and Assessment of Resources) Regulations 2014 and statutory guidance in the Care and Support Statutory (CASS) Guidance. The CASS Guidance is issued under section 78 of the Care Act and local authorities must have regard to it.

The Regulations and Guidance do not require local authorities to charge. They seek to ensure that, where local authorities do charge, this will be based on fairer, well-designed charging policies and ensure in particular that service users on low incomes are protected from charging and that any charges levied on disability benefits are subject to an assessment of disability costs, to ensure their reasonableness.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4008", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Dame Caroline Dinenage"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Gosport"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Caroline Dinenage"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-11-23", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "193382"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-11-23T14:02:57.627Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "17"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Health and Social Care"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-11-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Social Services: Fees and Charges"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what guidance he has issued to local authorities on social care charges for vulnerable people receiving benefits; and if he will make a statement.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/360", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Coaker"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Gedling"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Vernon Coaker"} ], "uin" : "193381"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/44621", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Attorney General"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/44621/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "
