Reporting processes agreed at the UN mean that it is the national statistics office of each Member State that is responsible for reporting national data to the UN on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. In the UK, this role is undertaken by the independent Office for National Statistics, which carried out a public consultation on its approach to reporting last summer.

The Government is committed to delivering the Sustainable Development Goals and has embedded the Goals across all of its work. We will present the UK’s voluntary national review of progress towards the Goals in 2019, and will be consulting with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including civil society organisations, as we develop our plans.

Civil society organisations have a vital role to play with regard to both contributing to delivery of the Goals to ensure no-one is left behind, and in communicating their importance to keep up momentum on implementation.

For example, the Leave No One Behind Partnership, founded by CIVICUS, Project Everyone and Development Initiatives with DFID support, has supported national dialogues with civil society platforms in thirty countries to raise awareness of the Goals, as well as discuss priorities and good practice for delivery. We are keen to ensure these important contributions are captured.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1091", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Bates"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Bates"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-03-09", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-03-09T11:23:35.403Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "20"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "International Development"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "International Development"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-02-28", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Developing Countries: Sustainable Development"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask Her Majesty's Government how they plan to facilitate the involvement of civil society organisations in reporting on the UK’s progress in implementing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4171", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Black of Brentwood"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Black of Brentwood"} ], "uin" : "HL5937"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/709530", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Home Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/709530/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

All those granted refugee status in the UK are given access to the labour market and benefits, and are encouraged to access organisations that can assist with integration.

The Home Office provides integration loans, which are designed to help new refugees to integrate into UK society by offering support towards housing costs, employment and training.

Through the Environmental Protection (Restriction on Use of Lead Shot) (England) Regulations 1999, the use of lead shot ammunition is restricted to protect waterfowl from lead poisoning. Its use is banned on all foreshores, certain Sites of Special Scientific Interest and for the shooting of all ducks and geese, coot and moorhen. The supply of lead weights for fishing is also prohibited. One recent piece of research suggests compliance with the Regulations is relatively low with around 70% of wild duck carcasses bought from game dealers in England having been shot with lead ammunition. We will continue to look at how the Lead Shot Regulations can be better implemented.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4161", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Gardiner of Kimble"} } , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Lord Gardiner of Kimble"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2016-02-16", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "HL5938"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2016-02-16T14:18:07.347Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "13"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Environment, Food and Rural Affairs"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Environment, Food and Rural Affairs"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2016-02-04", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "Lead: Ammunition"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "2"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25277", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Lords"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask Her Majesty’s Government what assessment they have made of the levels of compliance with the Environmental Protection (Restriction on Use of Lead Shot) (England) Regulations 1999, as amended, and the effectiveness of those Regulations in reducing lead poisoning of waterbirds.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/3736", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Lord Krebs"} } , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Lord Krebs"} ], "uin" : "HL5937"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/228972", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Foreign and Commonwealth Office"} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/228972/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

Planning for the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising is a matter for the Irish government. We are aware that on 30 March 2015 the Irish Government will launch its formal programme of events to mark the centenary of the 1916 Easter Rising. The positive dialogue that exists between the UK and Irish governments will continue as detailed plans for 2016 take shape.

It is the responsibility of individual ministers to decide what answers they give to Questions for Written Answer (QWAs), and they are of course accountable to the House for those answers. The importance of this direct accountability is such that I recently decided, following the introduction of a new system for answering QWAs electronically, to require Ministers in this House to continue providing personally signed answers to noble Lords. The Ministerial Code states that “It is of paramount importance that Ministers give accurate and truthful information to Parliament”.
