International Men\u2019s Day offers an opportunity to highlight where we need to do more to improve outcomes for men and boys and to talk about some of the work across Government to tackle those issues.<\/p>
<\/p>
This work ranges from the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities looking at outcomes for the whole population - including ethnic minorities and White British people; preparation for an Employment Bill which, subject to further consultation, will make flexible working the default unless employers have good reason not to; delivering the Suicide Prevention Workplan, which sets out action that is being taken across Government departments and the NHS to reduce suicides, including amongst men.<\/p>
<\/p>
This Government is committed to levelling up opportunity and ensuring fairness for all - regardless of gender or background.<\/p>

To celebrate International Men\u2019s Day, the Director of the Office of the Secretary of State for Wales spoke at an International Men\u2019s Day webinar and raised awareness of the day in a virtual newsletter.<\/p>

The Office of the Secretary of State for Wales has no specific plans to mark International Men's Day 2019, but in the UK Government\u2019s Domestic Abuse Bill we propose to create a statutory definition of domestic abuse that makes clear men can also be victims of this abhorrent crime.
