As with all taxes, the government keeps the alcohol duty system under review during its yearly Budget process.<\/p>

From 1 August 2023, the new alcohol duty system will not distinguish between alcohol categories, and there will not be a spirits duty. All alcohol between 8.5% and 22% ABV will pay a duty rate of £28.50 per litre of pure alcohol, and all alcohol above 22% will pay a duty rate of £31.64.<\/p>
