Reports (known as \u2018Electrical Installation Condition Reports or \u2018EICRs\u2019) must be provided to tenants, and to local authorities on request.<\/li><\/ul>The Regulations also set out enforcement powers for local authorities who will be able to tackle those rogue landlords who breach their new duties under the Regulations.<\/p>
Subject to approval by parliament, these requirements will come into force for all new tenancies from 1 July 2020 and for all existing tenancies from 1 April 2021.<\/p>"}

The Government is introducing a new requirement for electrical safety inspections to be conducted by a competent person at least every 5 years in all privately rented properties. The Government will produce guidance for landlords employing inspectors and testers to carry out the inspections. This will set out how landlords should determine the correct level of qualification and competence required to undertake the work of inspecting electrical installations in privately rented housing.<\/p>
