Improving risk management and safety planning for suicide and self-harm prevention is a priority in the Government\u2019s suicide prevention strategy. The strategy highlights the importance of compliance with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence\u2019s (NICE) guidelines on risk assessment. NHS England is taking forward work in this area.<\/p>

Compliance with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) is now a contractual requirement for all services commissioned under the NHS Standard Contract. Implementing the PSIRF is an ongoing process and organisations\u2019 approach to patient safety incident response can and should evolve over time.
