The UK intends to accede to the World Trade Organisation Government Procurement Agreement on the same terms as is currently the position for the UK as an EU Member State. The UK's final market access offer was agreed in principle on 27 November 2018. As a result, while the treatment of defence contracts is expected to remain unchanged, the Ministry of Defence is contributing to work across Government to understand the implications and opportunities of accession.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/4032", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Stuart Andrew"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Pudsey"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Stuart Andrew"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2018-12-20", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "groupedQuestionUIN" : {"_value" : "201615"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2018-12-20T15:05:44.493Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "11"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Defence"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Defence"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2018-12-12", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "National Security"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to the Answer of 27 November 2018 to Question 194078 on UK national security, if he will take steps to implement safeguards to ensure the general defence exemption under the Government Procurement Agreement is retained in full and not limited as a result of residual obligations to the EU after the UK has left the EU.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1447", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Andrew Rosindell"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Romford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Andrew Rosindell"} ], "uin" : "201613"} , {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1011544", "AnsweringBody" : [{"_value" : "Department for Exiting the European Union "} ], "answer" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/resources/1011544/answer", "answerText" : {"_value" : "

The UK’s proposal for future security cooperation with the EU, as set out in the Technical Note on External Security, is aligned with the Government’s White Paper on the Future Relationship published on 12 July 2018, and reflected in the Political Declaration on the Framework for the Future Relationship.

The future relationship on foreign policy, defence and development is based on a flexible relationship, which enables us to activate and intensify UK-EU cooperation during a crisis or on a shared priority, where it is in our mutual interest. The UK will make independent choices in foreign policy, defence and development, and our national security will remain the sole responsibility of the UK.

The threat to the UK from international terrorism is SEVERE, reflecting developments in Syria and Iraq. We are taking action against ISIL overseas. Almost 800 UK personnel are directly contributing to the anti-ISIL coalition, including through training for security forces, air support and work to restrict ISIL’s funding and networks. The Prime Minister recently announced an additional 125 troops to join those already training Iraqi Security Forces. The UK has also provided £800 million to the humanitarian relief effort in Syria. We are also tackling the threat at home, including through £130m of additional Counter Terrorism funding announced in November to tackle the threat from Syria and Iraq. During the last financial year, over three hundred people were detained on suspicion of terrorism offences. The police are securing the removal from the internet of around 1,000 pieces of unlawful terrorist-related content every week.

The Counter Terrorism and Security Act came into force earlier this year and included new powers to disrupt the ability of people to travel abroad to engage in terrorism-related activity and to control their return to the UK. We will also introduce an Investigatory Powers bill which will ensure that our legislation governing this work is modern and fit for purpose. We are continuing to work to stop people being drawn into terrorism through our Prevent work. This includes building partnerships with communities, as well as working with local authorities, schools and prisons, all of whom are now subject to a statutory duty requiring them to have regard to preventing people being drawn into terrorism.
"} , "answeringMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/350", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Sir John Hayes"} } , "answeringMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "South Holland and The Deepings"} , "answeringMemberPrinted" : {"_value" : "Mr John Hayes"} , "dateOfAnswer" : {"_value" : "2015-06-30", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "isMinisterialCorrection" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "questionFirstAnswered" : [{"_value" : "2015-06-30T15:51:07.223Z", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} ]} , "answeringDeptId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "answeringDeptShortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "answeringDeptSortName" : {"_value" : "Home Office"} , "date" : {"_value" : "2015-06-23", "_datatype" : "dateTime"} , "hansardHeading" : {"_value" : "National Security"} , "houseId" : {"_value" : "1"} , "legislature" : [{"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/terms/25259", "prefLabel" : {"_value" : "House of Commons"} } ], "questionText" : "To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what assessment she has made of the current threat level in the UK; and if she will make a statement on how, and over what period, she intends to reduce that threat level.", "registeredInterest" : {"_value" : "false", "_datatype" : "boolean"} , "tablingMember" : {"_about" : "http://data.parliament.uk/members/1447", "label" : {"_value" : "Biography information for Andrew Rosindell"} } , "tablingMemberConstituency" : {"_value" : "Romford"} , "tablingMemberPrinted" : [{"_value" : "Andrew Rosindell"} ], "uin" : "3802"} ], "itemsPerPage" : 10, "page" : 0, "startIndex" : 1, "totalResults" : 3, "type" : ["http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#ListEndpoint", "http://purl.org/linked-data/api/vocab#Page"]} }
